With the new release in the last week of November, Civ6 got downgraded on Linux and cannot be played in multiplayer with Windows Version of the Game … until a Fix is provided by Aspyr. A solution is to switch on the Proton support and basically play the Windows version. But there the 2K Launcher causes startup issues.

Game parameters to skip that launcher:

Clear the cache before you start the game. That is on Linux:

cd ~/.local/share/aspyr-media/Sid\ Meier\'s\ Civilization\ VI/
rm -rf Cache Logs

Wasn't aware there's a platform that takes care of Open Source projects until they are ready to sustain themselves … as Godot just did recently.
